View fullsize Shaped the headstock and got the neck roughed in. Angle set, tapered to thickness. Was nice to make sawdust the old fashioned way.

View fullsize Solid progress! Carved the body, glued up the neck scarf joint, and cut truss rod. Tougher than it should have been, was constrained by my relatively small machine. Nail biting workarounds! 😅
View fullsize 🙄 Not sure how I got 25” scale inlays and 25.5” scale fret slots in the same file, but if you’ve ever wondered how that might turn out, here you go. The 0.5mm bit does not survive meeting the inlay. Sad waste of wood.

Couldn’t Resist a Mock-Up

Sometimes I make a lot of extra work for myself, just to indulge a subtle customization. In this case, I’ve made minor tweaks to the classic Stratocaster style by rounding the heel and adjusting the lower horn.

Some of the most talented and hardest working musicians I have ever seen are the gigging players who are getting every possible note out of their $350 starter guitar.
